Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved his candidature.This is the first by-election in Karnataka after the resignation of B S Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister.The constituency had fallen vacant following the resignation of sitting JD(S) member Karadi Sanganna who had switched over to BJP in March this year.
