The order was issued by the second class additional sessions court in Thodupuzha in Idukki district on Friday against Benny, 28, his wife Manju ,26, who were the parents of the boy, Aromal, and Benny’s father Antony, 57.They were facing charges of physical torture, attempt to murder and illegal confinement. For about six months the trio chained him along with the dog to the pillar in the verandah of their house when they left for work. They also let loose another dog on the premises so that none dared to intervene. Boy’s plight It was one of his relatives who informed the local parish priest Fr Markose about the boy’s plight. The police who got wind of it soon came to the house and rescued the boy by severing the lock and chain. Aromal’s right palm was burnt and the skin peeling off. His body also bore marks of caning as well as burns inflicted by cigarette butts. It was in 2007 that Benny and Manju came to Udumbanchola. When they met Fr Markose with a request to solemnise their marriage, the priest asked for some documents. However, they didn’t return and began to harass the boy. When the priest questioned this, Benny claimed that he would do as he liked with his son. Aromal has since been lodged in Karuna Bhavan in Rajakkad.
