How does Buddhism and Hinduism influence India?
Hinduism and Buddhism both influenced the Indian society although both influenced it in different ways. The main way that Hinduism influenced the Indian society is by the Caste System. The Caste System is the social classes of India, and are still accepted by some in India, even though it is now illegal. Whether they believed in the Caste System or not, everyone was in a certain class. Buddhism influenced the Indian society mainly in ways of art including many sculptures which were made in the image of Buddha. Buddhists learned ways of getting in touch with their inner self through the method of meditation. Buddhists believed in both kharma and dharma and that if people followed the eightfold path then they would escape the cycle of suffering and rebirth or "samsara" and achieve nirvana. Hindus interpret this as if one is reincarnated into a better social class, one is coming closer to escaping suffering.
